Nick runs TC Timberart, a Veteran owned and operated small business custom woodworking shop. In his former life he was a letter carrier for the USPS. He has done framing and carpentry side jobs for most of his life. Nick started his business just doing freehand carved signs, 4 years ago. Since then he has grown  so much in his woodworking career, grown his skill set, and found a love for power carving. Nick really enjoys working on unique one of a kind projects. Located in eastern Massachusetts, Paul Jackman is a full-time maker and content creator working with a mix of materials, typically focusing on high-end reclaimed and upcycled projects through woodworking.<\/p>

One might say he likes to push the boundaries, often creating enlarged wooden projects that he likes to refer to as \u201cJackman Sized\u201d. These off-the-wall projects test his patience, but also push his skill-set to the next level, which is the real reason behind them. He makes fast-paced and entertaining build videos there that are made for everyone, but with the ultimate goal to get the younger generations excited about making again.<\/p>

Referring to his educational background, Jackman says that very few people these days are lucky enough to have the hands-on learning experience that he had, so he\u2019s trying to pay it forward by translating what he knows into very easily digestible videos where people are entertained while they learn and often laugh at his own expense (usually on purpose\u2026 usually).<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Eric started woodworking in high school and developed an instant passion. He then went on to The Ohio State University to pursue an Engineering degree and lost touch with building. George Vondriska has been teaching woodworking since 1986. In addition to running his own woodworking school, George has taught woodworking courses for woodworking shows, woodworking schools, retail stores, the U.S. Peace Corps, the Pentagon, Northwest Airlines, and Andersen Window. George is the primary instructor for Vondriska Woodworks woodworking classes.<\/p>

Erich started woodworking as a way to relax and be creative. He needed a motivating hobby to distract him from his daily grind. He started out cutting urban trees and making slabs. Then Erich had an epiphany, logs are heavy. So he started a business called Rescued Oregon Timber with two other guys, Rob Hammerly and Scotty Schwartzkoph. They continue to reclaim urban trees but have added power carving, pyrography and table manufacturing. They are associated with the Urban Lumber Network West. Michael Alm is a Seattle based artist and woodworker. After a number of years working for museums, galleries, and other artists, Alm found the perfect space for building out his dream shop. In 2014 he left his day job and started Alm Fab.<\/span><\/p>

Alm Fab began as a design\/build company, but in recent years has become a lot more. Alm produces two woodworking videos a month on his <\/span>YouTube channel<\/span><\/a>, and creates <\/span>DIY plans<\/span><\/a> for his projects. He frequently experiments with new furniture pieces, sculptures, and power tools\u00a0 tools in his daily posts on <\/span>Instagram<\/span><\/a>. His goal is to share his knowledge with others and help them up their game in the wood shop.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Popular projects include the <\/span>Melting Table<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>Murphy Bar<\/span><\/a>, and his many experiments with <\/span>Patterned Plywood<\/span><\/a>. He loves integrating power carving into his builds and is working on a number of new carved pieces this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Shane Christensen is a professional sculptor living on the Sunshine Coast, QLD Australia. Shane calls himself an \u2018environmental artist\u2019 which is an interesting combination of his past life working in Conservation and Environmental Protection, and his current direction which is Chainsaw Carving. After a Feathertail Glider moved into one of his sculptures he realised that what he was creating wasn\u2019t limited to art but also gave native animals a home. In recent years, Shane introduced native Australian Stingless Bee Hives into some of his sculptures. Art has been in her life from age two, beginning in the Pottery Studio of her mother, accomplished artist Alison Brown. Through her life she has added layers of diverse ability, using a multitude of techniques and products which, along with her understanding of design, have facilitated the transition to shaping wood that she immerses herself in today.
Within the use of wood her goal is to make items of use that not only have a point of difference, from her signature handle ‘fick’ to her flowing shapes, but that are also practical and aesthetically pleasing to the eye and the hand. The tactile smoothness in the finish of her pieces, a direct contrast to the natural hardness of the wood.
Her love of nature, colour, tones and textures all lend themselves to the forms she creates, and form much of the foundation of what inspires her.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Lila Ferber is an artist and exhibit fabricator from Omaha, Nebraska.\u00a0 She received her BFA in Sculpture from the Kansas City Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows nationally, including New York, DC, Portland, and Phoenix.\u00a0 She interned with the Salem Art Works Sculpture Park in New York, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the exhibit fabrication department at the Omaha Children\u2019s Museum, and the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in the marble quarries of Vermont.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Currently in Portland, Lila is teaching woodturning classes on the lathe and studying ice carving.\u00a0 Most recently, she carved ice at the Feb 2020 Portland Winter Light Festival, and does virtual ice carving performances for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. She creates abstract, playful wood carvings and oil paintings with bright colors and organic forms.\u00a0 She’s worked large-scale in foam and wood.\u00a0 The shapes and textures found in nature inspire her art.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
